Organic Farming And Its Benefits

Organic Farming

1. Reduced Pesticides and Chemicals:

We all know how pesticides and chemicals are a major reason for all of the environmental issues. Here, we bring you some issues caused by pesticides and chemicals.

  • Pesticides build up various kinds of diseases in plants, weeds with a variety of fungi and bacteria.
  • The chemicals sprayed or injected into the plants not only contaminate the plant but also infects other things. Like the soil, water, and air too. They can even age for decades or maybe longer.
  • The synthetic chemicals overlay the smart farming techniques for they cause other problems like soil erosion.

2. Healthy Soil:

If you want to grow healthy food, one must initiate from the base, healthy soil. Hence, don’t use heavy pesticides and chemicals for it may lead to disturb and corrupt the soil. There is a study that shows that organic farming can build up organic soil which is very beneficial for the produce. It is said that only one teaspoon of the rich compost soil may host almost 1 billion helpful bacteria while one teaspoon of chemically treated soil may host just as 100 bacteria.

3. Combatting Erosion:

Organic farming helps in preventing serious land issues like soil erosion. A study showed that the organic soil attributes to almost 8″ of topsoil while the chemical one had only 1/3 of it. Erosion is a pretty serious issue affecting the land, food, and humans as well.

4. Effects of Global Warming:

There is a trail running since 1981 which concludes that an organic system can reduce Carbon Dioxide and help climate change slow down its pace.

5. Water Conservation and Water Health:

Water is the basic necessity for the human world to survive, hence if our water is at any kind of risk, the whole living species will face the consequences. Non-organic farming people cause a majority of water pollution in the United States. It is because they dump all their waste in the water itself. These farms conserve water as they are so particular about the amount of irrigation required by the crops. They also spend time amending the soil to provide as much water as possible.

6. Algal Blooms:

The Algal blooms or the HABs often result in all the effects on humans and marine life. They also affect tourism and recreation which affects the regional economy. A primary cause of the bloom is runoff from the fertilizers which are used in farming.

7. Animal Health and Welfare:

Humans create problems when they invade the animal’s zone and destroy their habitats. Organic farming preserves and helps to build up the natural habitats of birds and other predators too. Which also assists in the natural pest control of the farmland. Also, animals who live on such farms experience a clean and chemical-free environment which keeps them healthy.

8. Biodiversity:

This type of farming encourages healthy biodiversity which makes the farm more stable. Biodiversity is directly correlated with the number of diseases on the land. This means if diversity is reduced, there will be a rise in the number of diseases.
